AIA 2017 poster
AIA 2017 posterPresented at the 2017 AIA/SCS Joint Annual Conference in Toronto in January 2017, this poster was created in collaboration with Caroline Cheung (UC-Berkeley). Dolia are large ceramic storage vessels found throughout Pompeii (and many other areas); this project focuses on the archaeological evidence of their specialized fabrication, and different types of repairs that ancient craftspeople employed to continue use of these large-scale, difficult-to-make, expensive vessels.

AIA poster, 2013In 2013, I had the pleasure of designing a poster for my friends and colleagues from the Pompeii Archaeological Research Project: Porta Stabia. Aimee Scorziello and Ambra Spinelli, who focus on the archival research and documentation of the two insulae, or city blocks, that this research project comprises, painstakingly pored over old records and archives to determine where artifacts had been located when this corner of Pompeii was first excavated. This poster project brought together the use of licensed images, cartography, visual graphs, and of course all of the text outlining the project. I'm happy to report that this won top prize at the 2013 AIA/SCS Annual Meeting in Seattle.
